- Esther Grabe and Brechtje Post have submitted one paper on intonation
in the British Isles to Prosody 2002 in Aix-en-Provence and Grabe has submitted
another.
- Grabe taught a course on the IViE system for prosodic annotation at the
9th European Summer School
on Language and Speech Communication in Prague. The

- In October, Grabe gave a talk on intonational variation in English
in the Department of Phonetics and Linguistics at the Unversity of Lund in
Sweden. She presented new evidence on tonal phonotactics in different
varieties of British English.
- Grabe has been invited to give a talks on the IViE project at
a
German Science foundation workshop
on regional and social variation
in prosody in February 2002 and at the Applied Linguistics Centre at the
University of
Cambridge, also in February. She will be a discussant at
Prosody 2002 in Aix-en-Provence in April 2002 (Keynote lecture by
Franck Ramus). She will talk about
intonation typology.
